the hotel riga, where we stayed. the corridors were delightfully creepy. jack would feel very much at home here, methinks.

latvian leaks

June 18th, 2008 - no thoughts

little accidents from riga.
shot this may using fuji superia 200 (bought in riga at a silly price) and the trusty ol’ pentax me.

the bottom picture is from an awsome outdoor photo exhibition at the doma square in riga. the original documentary project from 1987 was followed by a “20 years later” edition in 2007. read more about it here. works from the exhibition can be found here.

march 27th, 2008

April 7th, 2008 - no thoughts

random shots from around town.
if you examine the pictures closely (it’s easy on the thumbnails anyway) you can see that there’s a streak of shading in them, approximately 1/4 wide and toward the edge of the frame. i think this is a case of slow shutter curtains in the poor old zenit. on this page, the author sort of brags about the excellence of the mechanics and design of the shutter curtains on zenit cameras, as opposed the leica, for instance. he’s probably right and all. i just happen to own a zenit that has started showing symptoms of age (and/or irregular or rare usage).

zenit 122 and fuji rxp (provia 400).
