if you examine the pictures closely (it’s easy on the thumbnails anyway) you can see that there’s a streak of shading in them, approximately 1/4 wide and toward the edge of the frame. i think this is a case of slow shutter curtains in the poor old zenit. on this page, the author sort of brags about the excellence of the mechanics and design of the shutter curtains on zenit cameras, as opposed the leica, for instance. he’s probably right and all. i just happen to own a zenit that has started showing symptoms of age (and/or irregular or rare usage).
