Asteroid trip
I’m at home somewhere – I can’t tell exactly where, I just know that I’m home. From a radio or a speaker outside I’m being told that an asteroid is going to pass the planet at a very close margin so everyone is prohibited to go outside, because the possible side effects of the asteroid passing so close to the surface has not yet been calculated.
I’m excited out of my head and I must go outside, no matter what. I feel this event is too important to miss. I get dressed, and choose to put layers and layers of clothing on, just in case.
The minute I step outside I discover that I can take very large steps. As I put my foot forward, the distance I travel is insane. Every time I put a foot down and move forward, the foot ends up miles behind me while the other stretch out far ahead, but still I’m in one piece and moving fast. It’s hard to explain but I’m so thrilled I’m about to explode. At one point I get overly excited and start tripping, then in a moment of inattentiveness I suddenly stumble forward and start gaining altitude; I’m flying at tremendous speed at a slightly upwards curve. I panic. I fear I’m going to end up in space and asphyxiate.
Luckily I start descending. I look down on the world beneath and I recognise the islands and mountain ranges from back home. As I come closer to the ground I can’t focus on the ground anymore and I have no idea where I’m going to land.
I suddenly find myself in a small village by the sea. There’s absolutely no-one here. I start looking for people or signs of activity, but the place really has been fled. I find a bicycle and decide to ride home with it. I ride the bike for what seems like ages. Nothing is familiar and I have no idea where I am. Along the way I pass another village. There’s a woman there, a stunning black haired beauty, who tries to convince me to take her with me because she’s so bored with living in that desolate little town. She’s removing her clothes one by one as a way of persuading me, and I’m struggling not to give in. To my great relief I see a crossing up ahead that looks familiar. I apologize to the woman and start moving along fast. As I approach the crossing I find myself just a few hundred miles from home. I’m so happy and I can’t wait to tell everyone about my crazy adventure.
In front of me I can see the father of one of my friends back home standing in the middle of the road, waving his arms. I stop the bike at a distance from him to hear what he’s saying. He’s raging with anger as it turns out I’ve stolen his bike. He tells me to take a close look at how new and technically advanced it is, and he’s ordering me to get off his brand new bicycle. I feel terrible. Out from nowhere my friend, his son, appears. He’s yelling too, but at his father for being such an asshole. My friend says he lent me the bike so that I could get home, and I’m touched by the fact that he’s lying to save my ass. But still I feel I have to return his bike, so I turn around and start riding the long way back from where I came. Feeling hurt and very sorry for myself, I decide I’ll pay the woman in the village a visit…
… but then I wake up, feeling exhausted.
