Technically bored
I’m attending a concert held by a band I’ve never heard of. It’s a huge venue, but only myself and my girlfriend are there, and we have for some reason chosen a couple of chairs on the far right of the stage, leaving us a lousy point of view.
As the band members appear on stage one by one I happily notice that they’re all friends of mine. One of them is even my best friend, the keyboardist. I eagerly start to look forward to hear them play. But they never do.
Some kind of technical difficulties seem to make all the instruments play a sour and twisted sound. The band members fiddle and disconnect, reconnect and fiddle more, but the evil sound just won’t go away. After a while they stop playing and appear to give up. Someone, a stagehand or a roadie, enters the stage and start going over the equipment to locate the faulty whatever-it-is.
The whole thing starts to mindlessly bore me, and I’m disappointed as hell. Nothing happens. The dream ceases to be a dream and there’s nothing left in it but the utter lack of interestingness. It’s very, very strange. I just sit in my chair, with my girlfriend next to me, and we’re both totally perfunctory. The band, frozen in place on the stage, are totally incapable of fixing the problem or to even bother thinking or acting. I yawn constantly and I want to wake up, or start dreaming for real again.
Finally, after what feels like a painful couple of hours, I wake up.
